A village for the weary & the wondering

Staying soft
is a radical act

For tired humans who miss feeling curious. This is a hand-touched corner of the web — honest writing, gentle humour, and small moments of noticing what's still good.

The philosophy

Wonder isn't a luxury.
It's a survival strategy.

Life is loud. Overstimulating. A relentless swirl of comparison and pressure. Most newsletters tell you how to do more. This space touches something quieter — the part of you that misses feeling curious, that misses laughing at things, that craves a moment where an ordinary Tuesday feels like a real moment again.

We don't reject hardship or paste over the grief. We look at the long email inbox of life — the dirty kitchen sink, the hard season, the flat days — and we choose to find the light filtering through anyway. Not optimism. Intellectual honesty. The quiet defiance of noticing that you're still here.

Whimsy as defiance

Choosing to be playful in a world that demands hardness isn't being cute. It's a radical act of resilience.

Tenet 02

Witnesses, not experts

The village doesn't need more expertise. It needs more people willing to sit in the circle and say: me too.

Tenet 03

Ordinary magic

You don't need to escape your life to find wonder. You just need to look at the kitchen sink differently.

Resilience is the
muscle wonder builds

I keep returning to the Stoics — not because they were cold, but because they were realistic. Ideas like Amor Fati and Memento Mori aren't gloomy. They're bittersweet nudges to live fully awake.

When we accept that life is fleeting, the "small" things stop being small. The steam rising from a morning mug. The sunlight spilling across a messy room. These become anchor points — vivid threads that keep us from unravelling when the larger tapestry frays.

The odds of you existing are roughly 400 trillion to one. Wonder is the quiet defiance of noticing this truth.

"You are the sky. Everything else is just the weather."

For the hard days

When You're Running
on Empty — Start Here

Not the dramatic exhaustion. The other kind — where you technically showed up for your whole day, ticked the boxes, said the right things… and somewhere around 8pm realized you hadn't actually been there for any of it. This one's for that.

You don't need a retreat. You don't need a new system. You just need five minutes and a willingness to actually be in them.

Read the emergency kit

"You can wonder from the floor. That's sorta the whole point."

The one-breath reset — you can do this at the grocery store checkout

The five-second sensory anchor — a mindfulness practice that fits in a moment

The gratitude that isn't toxic positivity — one specific thing, not a concept

Three minutes outside — just go. Look at something that isn't a screen.

and companion witness

I'm Caitlin — a writer, yoga and mindfulness teacher, and app builder based in Vancouver, BC. I pay attention to the small things that make life feel like life again.

My daily yoga practice began January 1, 2016 — a grief practice after losing my mom. From that beginning came everything you'll find here: the slow return, the ordinary magic, the belief that wonder steadies us when we let it.

The village doesn't need more experts. It needs more people willing to be witnesses. That's all I am — a companion witness. And that's enough.

Come into the village

The door is open.
The hearth is lit.

Whether you're celebrating or just surviving — there's a soft place to land here. No hustle. No expertise required. Just presence, and a willingness to notice.
